Headteachers Update
What an exciting, but busy half term we have had. We are so proud of all of our pupils.
This week, Year 6 have completed their swimming lessons and Year 3 ventured on their trip to Time and Tide museum.
Thank you to the parents who attended the EYFS session and to those of you who have supported our three charities over the last two weeks. Food donations will be delivered over the half-term.
Have a lovely break everyone, stay safe and we will see you all on the 11th November.
Thank you for your continuing support.

Year Group News
Nursery
It has been a lovely end to the half term in Bishy Barney Bees class! We have continued to enjoy the book ‘Funnybones’, and have been retelling the story to each other as we make dark, dark houses and spooky skeletons for our new class display. We have planted some Spring bulbs in our growing area, and have enjoyed looking inside the pumpkin which we’ve been growing since last school year.
Reception
This week Reception Rabbits have been reading ‘Room on the Broom’. They have been putting the story in the right order and learning lots of new words like clambered, bounded and moors. In maths they have been thinking about 1 more and 1 less and learning the song ‘5 Little Speckled Frogs’ to help with this.
Year 1
Year 1 have been learning about garden plants and how to care for them in their Science. We have planted tulip bulbs and are hoping they will grow in the Spring. We then wrote instructions on how to plant bulbs in English. In Maths we have been learning about 2d and 3d shapes.
Year 2
Year 2 have had a fantastic half term. This week in Year 2, we celebrated Black History Month by learning about Jean-Michel Basquiat's artwork. He inspired us to do our own self-portrait with a colourful background using oil pastels. We finished our stories about the tortoise and the hare - they all worked so hard we are so proud of them.
Year 3
Year 3 has had a brilliant end to this half term. In Science we have been learning about soil and what soil is made from. We took some soil samples from the school field and discussed what we could identify in them. We have also enjoyed a trip to The Time and Tide Museum to take part in a ‘Surviving the Stone Age’ workshop.
Year 4
Year 4 has had a fantastic final week of the term. In Science, they had looked at the environment and how the destruction of forests is reducing wildlife and habitats. In Reading, we have started our new core text, The Girl Who Stole an Elephant, which the children have been thoroughly enjoying so far! In English, they have begun analysing their two model, narrative poems by Lewis Carroll, annotating the humour, speech and similes.
Year 5
In Year 5, we finished our DT unit by making mezze bowls. They carefully considered the presentation of their food by using different colour vegetables. In addition to this, Year 5 were joined by the Mental Health Team this week and they delivered a workshop about anxiety and things we could do to help ourselves when we feel overwhelmed. This was engaging and the children explored different breathing techniques, which they found beneficial.
Year 6
Year 6 have finished their DT unit on cooking by making some delicious samosas. They have also finished their swimming sessions this week. In science they learnt about how blood carries nutrients around the body and in geography they studied tectonic plates.
