What a fantastic finish to a superb term!
Year 3/4 football team walked away with bronze medals in the Cluster football tournament yesterday and Year 5/6 walked away with silver! We were super proud of all the children who represented the school this year and even prouder of all of our children who not only clapped our teams but showed sportsmanship for the other schools.
The reading ambassadors have been busy in our library, and it has been lovely to see their recommendations being read by their peers. Miss Coley even spotted some of our KS2 storybooks being enjoyed by Year 6.
We hope you all enjoy a rested half term and we look forward to a busy, but fun-packed final term ahead.

Year Group News
Nursery
This week we have been learning a bit more about just how important minibeasts and other animals are, and how we can protect their natural habitats. Our book is called 'Elephant in my Kitchen!', which starts with lots of animals turning up at a boy's house and doing very strange things! By the end it helps teach us about some of the impacts of climate change, and how we can help the planet to ensure animals have their own homes. Linking to the story, we have been identifying different animals and then building homes for them in our construction area. We have also enjoyed junk modelling as a way of recycling the packaging we have used.
Reception
This week in Reception we have shared the story Clean Up by Nathan Byron. We learned about the surfer Imani Wilmot and thought carefully about how we could help to look after our planet. We designed posters sharing important messages and enjoyed being our very own 'Clean Up Crew' litter picking around the local area. We looked at the vocabulary tangled, rescued, brainwave, ruining, notice, collected and release. In maths we have continued to reinforce our understanding of the number system including the order of numbers and their properties. We have also continued to develop our garden area by planting some lavender for the bees.
Year 1
This week year one have been busy doing some exciting art projects! We have been threading using cotton, wool and ribbons and explored creating self-portraits on fabric with fabric crayons, adding 3d features using wool and ribbon. At the end of the week we have been working with clay to create 3d sculptures inspired by 'inukshuk' which are structures made by piling rocks on top of each other. We have also learnt about Mae Jemison, the first African American woman to travel to space during our history lessons and have been finding out about the fruits and nuts produced by different trees in Science.
Year 2
In DT this week we have been learning about starch and healthy alternatives to ready made hash browns and chips. We had to peel potatoes, grate them and season them with salt and pepper to make our own potato rosti. We loved them!
Year 3
Year 3 have had a lovely week this week. We have been working hard with some end of term assessments. In English we have been writing formal letters of complaints. In maths we have been learning about time and have enjoyed finding out some fun facts. Year 3 have thoroughly enjoyed Karate this term well - done .
Year 4
What a fantastic Summer 1 we have had Year 4! I am so proud of all of your achievements throughout the term so far, as well as all of your efforts this past week. We have finished our diaries and started recapping elements we could improve in our writing as a class, such as; capital letters, full stops and we looked at tenses too! We finalised our unit on Egyptians in History, researching all of their achievements and how they created such wonderful innovations. Finally, in Bushcraft, we made a fire and toasted marshmallows - some were more burnt than others - but they all tasted great! Once again, big well done to all of you, I look forward to what our final term brings us!
Year 5
This week, Year 5 have been working hard at adding and subtracting decimals. They have carefully considered the importance of one digit per square when setting out their calculations to avoid errors. In reading, we have been using our inference skills to determine how characters feel in The Explorer. In Science, the children are now able to explain the difference between asexual and sexual reproduction.
Year 6
Year 6 have been pleased to get back to normal this week. They have all been writing fantasy stories and they are making so much progress with their writing. We learnt about Elizabeth 1st in history, finding out about Sir Walter Raleigh’s adventures. We have started looking at our play for the end of the year which everyone is very excited about.
